I have driven by this place a thousand times coming out of the parking garage but never ate here. Not sure why the low ratings. I assume the Hipster yuppy types in SF want something really "cool" and this is too old school for them. The food and service was just great. Ernies, Alfreds, Jacks, etc are all gone now and this and Tadich Grill are the only ones left. And Tadich Grill is good, but overpriced a tourist rip off place

Can't get enough of John's grill! Finally got the steak and fries and it did not disappoint! Portions are huge so you'll have plenty to take home. Service is always great at John's !
